Bringing order to a disorganised, cluttered closet can make daily life feel a little smoother, helping you find what you need, use what you own, and save time getting ready.
Portable closet storage with an iron table and dressing table is a great way to maximise the storage space in your bedroom. They often offer more flexibility than many built-in closets. Portable closets maximise storage space and can make an excellent organiser with features for a bedroom.
Since they’re easy to assemble and disassemble, portable closets are ideal for renters, students, and others who move somewhat frequently. Easy transport, and some options are packable and travel-friendly.
In this case study, we will explore the benefits of using portable closet storage with a dressing table and an ironing table

In this case study, we will explore the benefits of using portable closet storage with a dressing table and an ironing table

Let’s look at the portable closet storage with an attached iron table and dressing table that I have designed.
This is the final prototype of portable closet storage with an iron table and dressing table designed for closet storage.

From disorganised, cluttered closets to smoother, helping you find what you need, use what you own, and save time getting ready.
Maximise the closet storage capacity: for those who want to extend the storage without altering the present wardrobe or wall without much effort. This portable closet storage is helpful to maximise and look like a wardrobe.
No specific space for a closet: imagine you live in an unfurnished apartment or house where a wardrobe or shelf facility is not provided, it is difficult to store clothes. This portable closet storage helps store clothes and luggage with additional features like a mirror and an ironing table.
Hostel or rooms: some students or working professionals live in rooms or hostels where they have small shelves without locking systems, or they can't store luggage or no storage is provided to store clothes. This portable closet storage helps store clothes and luggage with additional features like a dressing table and an iron table is also provided
somewhat frequently changing: if the family travel frequently due to transfer or changing job it is difficult to carry the almirah it might get damaged while travelling and moving almirah from one room to another or one place to another is difficult to move by one person. This portable closet storage helps store clothes
collapsible wardrobe. For those who use this wardrobe, the materials are not good. Durability is much less because the compartments of this wardrobe are small. A non-locking system is provided, and no drawer is provided

For whom am I trying to solve this problem?
The main issue is that the user’s clothing is in disarray and disorganised due to the lack of designated storage space. This can be particularly challenging for those living in hostels or rented rooms, or for those who need to frequently relocate and cannot transport an almirah easily without risking damage.
Why did I choose this problem?
I decided to tackle this issue because it's a widespread problem that many people experience. Finding a solution that addresses this problem would benefit a larger audience.

You might ask what the need for this step is.
It is essential to understand the Root cause of the problems you got from the interview because this will lead you to find a lot of problems that your users don’t even realise that they have problems and should be solved!
Similarly, the Design Thinker needs to go deep down into the problem that can be solved for the user.

The problem statement that I defined was based on the opportunity that I identified.
After analysing and delving deeper into the information, I was able to define a clear and actionable problem statement.
Some users live in unfurnished or semi-furnished apartments, and they are unable to store their clothes because no wardrobe is provided for this purpose.
Some collapsible wardrobes are available in the market, but their durability is lower. The compartment is small and can’t be locked, and no drawers are provided
Moving somewhat frequently makes it difficult to carry the almirah and might get damaged while moving houses. Want to extend the storage that looks like a wardrobe.
In rental rooms or hostels difficult to iron and no dressing table is provided
In some of the houses, it is difficult to store trolley luggage in a wardrobe, or there is no particular space to keep them.
Ironing in bed is difficult, water may spill, and in some houses, the sockets are not near to bed.
The compartments are small, so only a smaller number of clothes can be stored.

Here are some of the important decisions that I took during the course of the project.
Now this is the stage where I felt like I was going to use my brain to its full potential to create ideas.
I used the technique called Crazy 8.
I pushed myself to think of solutions for every problem statement.

Now this is the stage where I felt like I was going to use my brain to its full potential to create ideas.
I used the technique called Crazy 8.
I pushed myself to think of solutions for every problem statement.
After defining the problem statement, I took some time to brainstorm ideas.
Foldable racks were my first idea, and my second idea was a trolley bag come wardrobe. My ideas only scratched the surface. I revisited my interview notes and thoroughly examined the entire story. This helped me realise my biases and how they influenced my initial ideas. With this new perspective, I was able to generate more meaningful ideas.
The portable closet with an iron table and dressing table blends well with my root causes. So the reason I prioritised this idea over others

Additional features of portable wardrobe
Additional features of portable wardrobe

This portable wardrobe with a dressing table and an iron table with a locking system that is made up of plywood sheets.
Easy to port and assemble, and dismantle with wardrobe hardware like Brackets, Magnetic Catchers, Castor Wheels, Pro lift, and Wardrobe Latches
It has a foldable back panel and two drawers with a locking system, two shelves and two hanger rods.
To provide for the needs of my users and determine the optimal space planning, storage solutions, budget considerations, portable, easy-to-assemble and dismantle.
So I took note of their preferences for Minimalism, Flexibility, durability and space utilisation.

Learning from this Project
I am not the user and can not solve the problems simultaneously.
I learnt the Design Thinking Process and its impact properly.
we can not remove biases but we can try to minimize them.
Never jump into a solution before ideation. We can take inspiration from anywhere to solve any problem.
Never blindly follow your user’s feedback
There is always the possibility of making any product better.
Feedbacks
This is the stage where I get to know whether the product we made will work or not. A designer needs to be open to feedback.
It’s important to always remember “You≠User”.
I called the 5 people I interviewed and showed them the product and here is what I got
The process of setting up the product may require further clarification and may take more time than anticipated.
The product is portable but still, it will take up a lot of space if we detach everything.
Little bit Confused and required lots of tools while assembling this product
Appreciations
They were fond of the idea and materials used in this product.
They liked the features of the product and to save a lot of space
They believe that this product can be utilized to expand storage.
the durability of the product is good compared to other collapsible wardrobe
It is easy to portable, assemble and dismantle
